Trim Levels (Exterior)
Nissan offers the 2023 Kicks in three trims: the S, SV, and SR. The Kicks has a practical long-roof shape, and a black trim surrounds the grille. This look carries along the vehicle's sides, and you'll notice fender flares and a hidden A-pillar. The S comes with 16-inch steel wheels, but 17-inch aluminum-alloy ones are standard for the other two trims.
Engine (Power)
With the 2023 Kicks, you only have one powertrain option, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that gets 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. This engine pairs with a Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission on its intake and exhaust valves. Power goes directly to the front wheels.
Performance
Even though the 2023 Kicks only has one available engine, it can produce stellar gas mileage compared to other vehicles in its class. Interior

The vehicle has 25.3 cubic feet of cargo space but increases to 32.3 cubic feet once you flop the bench seat forward. Interior styling isn't as noticeable compared to its exterior design, but the Kicks maintains a user-friendly cabin. Splashes of color throughout the cabin break up the otherwise entirely black interior. Available upgrades for the SR include automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated front seats.
While the infotainment system inside the Kicks isn't the flashiest on the market, it is easy to operate. The base trim comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth, three USB-A ports, and a six-speaker stereo system. Simply moving up one trim gives you a larger 8-inch touchscreen display, a USB-C port, and access to the NissanConnect concierge system. The available upgrade on the SR trim is the Premium package, which adds a Wi-Fi hotspot and a Bose stereo system.
Safety Features
Even with the base trim, the 2023 Nissan Kicks comes with a full slate of safety technology. You'll find Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, rear-park assistance with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, Lane-Departure Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. You can add adaptive cruise control to the SV and SR and a surround-view camera with the SR, the latter of which you won't typically find on subcompact crossover vehicles. With this feature, you gain a bird's-eye view of the vehicle and its surrounding area.
