2021 Nissan Titan vs. Honda Ridgeline

Overview

If you're in the market for a new pickup truck, it's worth taking a closer look at both the 2021 Nissan Titan and the Honda Ridgeline. While the Titan offers a robust powertrain and respectable off-road performance, the Ridgeline provides refined handling and innovative features. To help you decide between these two capable trucks, here's a short overview.

Power

The Titan features only one engine. However, it's a brawny 5.6-liter V-8 engine that provides a best-in-class output of 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The engine pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive optional. As is the case with the Titan, all Ridgelines are powered by the same engine. With an output of 289 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, the Ridgeline's 3.5-liter V-6 engine doesn't quite pack the punch that the Titan's V-8 does. It is also mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive comes standard across all trims.

Infotainment System

The standard infotainment system on the Titan comes with an 8-inch display, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, SiriusXM, USB ports, and voice recognition. Available features include a larger 9-inch display, wireless charging, a mobile hot spot, navigation, and a premium Fender audio system. With the Ridgeline, you also receive a standard 8-inch infotainment system. It offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, USB ports, seven speakers, and Bluetooth. However, you need to pay extra for SiriusXM and voice recognition. Other optional features include wireless charging and HD Radio.

Safety Features

With the Titan, you receive the Nissan Safe Shield 360 as standard equipment. This comprehensive suite includes forward-collision warning with rear pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic rear braking, and high-beam assist. The standard Honda Sensing suite offered with the Ridgeline consists of lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and forward-collision warning.

Off-Roading

When it comes to off-roading, the Titan has you covered. Apart from an available rugged shift-on-the-fly, four-wheel-drive system, the Titan offers ample ground clearance, hill-start assist, and hill-descent control. You can also opt for available off-road-ready features, such as a skid plate that protects the underbody and engine, and mud flaps. Although the Ridgeline doesn't offer a four-wheel-drive system, its standard all-wheel-drive system can handle snow, sand, and mud. However, for optimum performance, you want to use your Ridgeline on the road. If you're looking for a dependable and powerful truck that will provide you with respectable performance both on and off the road, the Nissan Titan is the way to go. In addition to all the above, this truck also offers impressive standard technology and driver-assist features.
